HOTELS

Thank you for your help with hotels. We are back now after our lovely break. We enjoyed both hotels but preferred the Ametler. The Cala San Vicente has a slightly faded feel to it and the bathrooms and rooms and TVs need updating and improving. The food was just ok, but staff excellent.  The more rural Son Ametler was a much more rewarding stay. Our room was a little small and dark - small window- but it was the only room available.  The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was excellent.
So in terms of your rating system

                   Son Ametler                  Cala San Vicente

Hi Henrik, Yes we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Son Ametler.  It was in a wonderful setting. We would give a rating of 5 for all categories and would definitely recommend to friends.  Thank you for all your help.

Hi Henrik! Please see my replies in red. Generally Liz and I were extremely happy with Son Ametler and the attention given by James and his lovely staff. The location was not “perfect” for us - just a little too far from some of our favourite restaurants in the north of Mallorca. We had a house near Pollensa so we know the area well. Other than two nights we ate dinner at the hotel as driving in the dark did not appeal to us. Maybe a two hotel holiday would have suited us better. All said and done, we score Son Ametler high. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating: Service: First class in every respect, 5 Food: I don’t eat red meat and the hotel made good efforts to accommodate me. At times I thought it was unnecessarily too “fancy” (I am used to eating in good restaurants internationally and the best for me are the ones that prepare good food in the the “normal” way). That still leaves room for Chef’s Surprises. 4. Cleanliness: Faultlessly clean.5. Value for money: 5. Sleep quality: 4. Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes Best regards,

Hello Henrik, We had a wonderful week although the weather was a little unreliable with a couple of downpours but that was just our bad luck! The first hotel, Son Ametler (hope I have remembered the name correctly) was wonderful. A 5 across the board for food, service, cleanliness etc. We had a very relaxing few days there. The second hotel, Son Sant Jordi was also wonderful. It is rather harder to comment on the food as we didn't really eat here. I would say the breakfast was not quite as good as the previous hotel but very clean, comfortable and very well situated for exploring Pollenca. It was a little cheaper so probably not completely fair to compare. We will remember that you offer accommodation in Menorca as we are interested in visiting there as well. Regards,

Henrik, Despite us setting you the challenge of finding accommodation in a particular area at very short notice you not only managed to find availability but delivered two hotels of contrasting but comparable excellent quality. Both provided a restful base for our daytime activities, so restful that we had to drag ourselves away! Hotel 2: Son Ametler near Inca. Food 5. Extensive and endless breakfasts. For an additional cost you could partake of an evening meal (available every night except Monday, even chefs need a night off !). The quality of the food was exceptional and the setting in a glass conservatory was delightful at any time of the day. Cleanliness 5. Excellent throughout. Value For Money. 5. Yes, certainly. Sleep Quality 5. The peace during the day was only pleasantly and gently shook by the random chiming of the goat bells. Nighttime was perfect solitude. In contrast, Son Ametler was more "boutique" in its style but still reflected the local charm. It's setting, with the mountains as a backdrop to breakfast and when swimming in the pool, was thoroughly enchanting. The welcome was warm and relaxed and full of those little touches that make it all the more memorable. Hotel 1: Son Galceran at Esporles.  Food 5. Breakfasts were infinite and service exemplary but what we didn't fully grasp from the photos was the idyllic breakfast terrace! Cleanliness 5. Room was always spotless as was the rest of the charming hotel. Value For Money 5. Was expecting half of the quality that we received. And would have been happy with that! Sleep Quality 5. Never any interruptions, (donkeys only started their chorus well after anyone would be up and about and only added to the charm). Son Galceran is a charming place, with all the marble and ornate splendour that you would wish for in a Spanish hotel. We would definitely return and would heartily recommend it to others. Henrik, I hope you can distill some useful feedback from my comments. You turned my hasty attempt at snatching some late summer sun into a thoroughly memorable and enriching experience. We will return to Mallorca and we will do it with your excellent guidance. Thank you

Hi, I have blogged to say how great it was 5 for all , except it would be worth them buying British pillows and shipping them for that luxury feeling, the local pillows are long thin, hard and give you a neck and back ache, bed average comfort, we will return. Best wishes

Hi Henrik, We had the most wonderful stay with the Paola and the team at Son Ametler. We wanted a low key rural idyll but we still wanted excellent standards. I love beautiful scenery and the feel of being away from modernity, and Husband wants that too, but must have a proper shower and bed to go with it. We got both at Son Ametler. The rooms were spacious and scrupulously clean, plainly but elegantly appointed, and everything was well designed and worked perfectly (only another person with a German spouse would really understand me when I say this, but it is SO important). The pink stone house itself retains all the picturesque loveliness and no-nonsense practicality of its farming origins – think thick bushes of lavender and rosemary viewed from the loo via a window cut into a 5 foot thick wall in the bathroom - but still offers guests a sense of dreamily ordered well-being and relaxed welcome which I’ve not often come across in my travels. We will be back very soon. Service: 4 (but I give this rating because I like service which isn’t too in-your-face - the hosts were on the ball, but genial and laid back, exactly how I like it.) Food: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 5 Sleep quality: 4 (black out blinds? But perhaps that’s being foolish, we should probably get up with the sun to savour the day). Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?  Absolutely – have done so already. Cheers!

Dear Henrik, We had a perfect stay thank you. Service 5, food 5, cleanliness 5, value for money 5, sleep quality 3. I would recommend to a friend, indeed already have. Comments generally... There is some development going on behind the hotel,  I think an equestrian centre being built, we were woken up in the morning by the sounds of large earth moving equipment and general banging noises. The only other problem was the Jacuzzi bath, very small and uncomfortable much better if it was just an ordinary bath!! Everyone very friendly , efficient and welcoming. Keep up the good work with the garden, there is scope for this to be enlarged which would be lovely.... We will definitely go back again soon. Regards,

Overview

Son Ametler is a small agroturismo at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains and its name stems from the Almond trees that dominate the 25 hectares of woods and pastures. This agriturismo continues to farm olives, fruit trees, herbs and vegetables for use in the hotel kitchen and they combine typical rural values and stunning scenery, with very modern services and facilities.

This old finca has recently been fully restored with all the necessary comforts, such as modern bed fittings, air-conditioning, WiFi, Jacuzzi bath tubs in some rooms, spacious bathrooms and spacious swimming pool.

The eight double rooms are tastefully decorated with a combination of traditional Mallorquin stone and flagstones, wrought iron and wooden furniture with modern stainless steel bathroom fittings and Italian stucco walls, giving guests an environment which is light, comfortable and relaxing, a “balsam for the spirit”.

There are four double rooms with balconies, and four double rooms without private balcony. All rooms are light and airy with en-suite bath and shower, and complete with a writing desk, Air-conditioning, safes and hair-dryers. Televisions, DVD and Fridges can be supplied on request. There is also the possibility of extra beds for children, cots, and two rooms can be combined into an independent “family suite”.

The buffet breakfast includes fresh fruit, home-made jams and yoghurts, freshly squeezed juices, a selection of breads and pastries, local hams and cheeses, eggs, bacon, and all that matters to make sure you have a memorable start to the day!
Dinner is served three times per week on the outside terrace (weather permitting). The cuisine consists of a three course menu of typically Mediterranean delicacies. It is produced using the highest quality ingredients, nothing is frozen, and all is sourced from the hotel gardens or the local markets. Indulge your senses by adding to this gourmet experience fabulous Mallorcan wines, spectacular mountain views, and the sounds of the Mallorcan countryside.

There is a full service bar as well as a honesty bar by the pool for drinks and snacks throughout the day.
