HOTELS

Hi Henrik

I’ve added some comments under the questions below. As you can see, we had a super holiday at Son Siurana and would definitely consider returning.

The only negative comment we have is that the outside tables (breakfast and dinner) had quite an ant problem - they were all over the tables and had to brush them off before sitting down. I know ants get everywhere but I think there is probably something that could be done there.

Anyway, overall we loved the hotel - thank you so much for all your help with our questions before our stay.

We loved this hotel. Our apartment was very clean and comfortable and the whole hotel was decorated and styled beautifully. All the staff we met were so helpful and friendly, especially with our children. It was a relaxing and peaceful stay, we didn’t want to leave!

Best wishes

We loved Son Siurana, it felt so relaxed, lovely kind and helpful staff, beautiful setting - breakfast on the terrace each morning was just gorgeous - location is perfect for exploring the island, our little house was great and the whole place just felt so right for us. We were a family of 5. Thank you for your help Henrik, I will certainly turn to you again for our next trip.

Hi - here is some feedback on our week at Sa Rota and Son Siurana in Mallorca (28 May - 4 June 2022!

Hope it is helpful.

Thanks so much for helping us find these lovely places.

Son Siurana

Service - 5/5 lovely, attentive service from receptionist/manager and the waiter. Excellent daily cleaning. Could have done with more places to put our stuff on in the room!
Food - 3-4/5 Breakfast: impressive well presented buffet, lots of local options; Dinner: reasonable, local food, served on the outdoor terrace with beautiful views. None of the starter options appealed to us and the menu was the same daily (apart from one night) but it was fine for two nights and we ate out on other nights.
Cleanliness - 5/5 excellent maid service
Value for money - 5/5
Sleep quality - 4/5 comfortable beds; rather noisy unit outside the boys' room though it turned off late at night. We were in the junior suites at the back of the estate.

After Sa Rota, Son Siurana had a high benchmark to meet in terms of location. It was still really beautiful - the old stone buildings, forecourt and the lovely swimming pool area and overall ambience - but the proximity of the fairly main road does detract a little from that. We loved being next to the sheep field and waking to their bells as they arrived every morning.

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?
We really enjoyed our stay at Son Siurana. The whole set up is charming, with old stone buildings, bougainvillea framed terraces, and mix of tended gardens and fields with alternately grazing sheep and donkeys.  It is well run and we enjoyed having breakfast on hand every day and choosing between dinner there or eating out at restaurants further afield.

Sa Rota

How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:

Service: n/a self catering. The maid who let us in was polite but fairly cursory in her introduction (her English was as limited as our Spanish!) though she did give us some nice jam. The grounds were beautifully tended and the pool was clean. The apartment was fairly well equipped. I couldn't help but imagine how enveloping the place must have been in times past with the owners' hospitality and a d, b&b service.
Food: n/a self catering
Cleanliness: 3/5  Overall the apartment was clean, but there was a pile of black hair sitting on the plug hole and orange substance (mould?) which came out of the drains or from the stone wall? in the shower off the twin bedroom (I reported this to Joana but said not to bother coming to clean as I'd sorted it); it felt like the apartment may not have been opened up and aired for a while]
Value for money: 4/5 a bit pricey given the lack of service
Sleep quality: 5/5 incredibly comfy mattresses

Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?
Yes - despite the couple of negatives above, we absolutely loved Sa Rota, though our particular apartment was dark and didn't have the views of the fields below, we liked having our own little terrace outside (with table, loungers and swing seat) and the hammock in the trees, and the overall setting is just gorgeous. We would definitely return for the setting.

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?
Sa Rota is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, immersed in nature, dragonflies dancing over the pool, birds singing loudly from the trees. Our apartment had a small two-level terrace with swing seat, loungers and a table and chairs, scented by the largest bank of rosemary I've ever seen. Our kingsize bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well in the peace and tranquillity. A short drive away across the fields, pretty Sineu had a good array of restaurants and shops for all our needs.

hi Henrik

thanks we had a great holiday.

re Son Suriana

This was also a nice place and in particular on the first few days was very quiet. The place did get busy with large family groups and so it was a little noisy for us. Location was good for Alcudia and Pollensa.

The accommodation was ok and cleaned every day, the settee was not so comfortable . But the kitchen was well equipped.

I do think when you send guests you should be clearer on the arrival information as there is no left turn waiting area marked in the road to turn into the property if traveling west to east along the road,  The turn comes up very quickly and it feels very dangerous. Once we got used to it, it was fine but for new arrivals a bit scary.

Service: 5
Food: no comment as did not experience
Cleanliness: 5
Value for money: 4
Sleep quality: 4 as no mosquito nets

hope this is helpful

Hi Henrik

Just to let you know we had a great time in the two places you booked for us in Mallorca (Sa Rota and Son Siurana). We were blessed with glorious weather for 6/7 days. Are you still collecting reviews?

Also, I wondered if you had had any luck finding a place for 19 next year (see email below)?!

Thanks

JP 06/22

Dear Henrik

Thank you for a great holiday.

The first two hotels were outstanding. The food & service at Barbassa were excellent & San Siruana was so friendly charming & the walks through the farm spectacular. A special mention of thanks to Sonja who sent my boys to the best golf courses & found us some fabulous excursions.

Torte & Valdemossa Beach both pretty inaccessible were the clear winners. Thanks to you we found both for which v grateful.Alcanada golf unbelievably good.

Best

Dear Henrik, We had a fantastic stay at Son Siruana. As soon as our vacation for 2020 is known, we will gladly come back to you to book a paradise with you again! Service: 5, Food: 5, Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: 5, Sleep quality: 5 Son Siruana is really a paradise for families who love small-scale and tranquility! Beautiful setting with a beautiful view. The cottages are decorated in a very atmospheric and authentic way and are cleaned every day. The breakfast is very extensive, fresh and delicious. The swimming pool is perfect for small children. Everything is very clear so prefect for young families, for which they are also very sweet at Son Siruana. We enjoyed it and will definitely be back! Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Sure

Hello Henrik, We really enjoyed our time in Mallorca. Both hotels, although being different, were good. An initial problem with the plumbing in our apartment at Son Siurana was efficiently dealt with. At Son St Jordi we were upgraded to a townhouse which was really great. Staff at both hotels were most pleasant and helpful. Food was good with I think Son Siurana being slightly better. We only ate breakfast at St Jordi so cannot comment on the restaurant. We would rate both places at 4 in the categories you mention except sleep quality at St Jordi a 3 and probably value for money a 3-4 at both. Regards

Dear Henrik, We loved San Siurana thank you! Service - 5, Food - 3, Cleanliness - 5, Value for money - 4, Sleep quality - 5. The menu was limited - which wasn't a problem. However we thought the food was quite expensive. I also found it very salty. Although it wasn't a problem for us, you have to order your dinner by 4pm and if we had arrived any later we would have been too late. It would, therefore, be a good idea if guests are told this before they arrive. The 4 for value for money reflects my comments on the food rather than the accommodation.  We had a very enjoyable stay. The buildings are beautiful and the staff so helpful and friendly. Our apartment was very pretty, comfortable and cool. We loved sitting on the terrace listening to the sheep and donkeys. We really appreciated the coffee machines in the lounge. The pool was beautiful, warm and very clean. The hotel was very relaxed about kids toys in the pool etc and our children had a great time there. We very much enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back.  Your service was very efficient and helpful. Thank you! I have no doubt you will be hearing from us again! Kind regards

Dear Henrik, Very many thanks for your e mail, and even more thanks for recommending Son Siurana to us. We had the BEST holiday in Mallorca.  The hotel was 100% perfect in every way. 10 stars all round.  Breakfast was amazing, the room was lovely, the aircon worked, the staff were charming and friendly.  Spotlessly clean.  Perfect. We hired a car so apart from an early morning swim didn't really make use of the pool, as wanted to get out and about. Maybe a trip to Menorca next year would be fun.  Certainly we didn't have nearly long enough this time. Thank you again - will definitely be in touch.

Hi Henrik, Thank you so much for helping us today and getting us a room in this fantastic hotel. I will send you positive reviews on both hotels when we get home.

Hi Henrik, We had a wonderful time on holiday . We greatly appreciated your assistance which was based on a real knowledge of the hotels. You showed amazing patience and provided information each time I raised any issues. Your advice to consider two different locations worked amazingly well with our wish to explore the north of Mallorca. I will certainly come back to you next time we wish to explore Mallorca. The hotels all score 5 and we would recommend the hotels to friends. I must say that in both hotels they were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The personal touch made the stay in both hotels very enjoyable. I am quite prepared to write something for each hotel if that helps.

Hi Henrik Happy to oblige as below. Super stay and would definitely. Book with you again. We fancy a short break to Ibiza sans kids in End March/early April, for a group of grown ups. Any ideas?  For 3-4 couples.Bx

Hello Henrik, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Son Siurana. Service: 5 Food: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Value: 5 Sleep quality: 5 If we had to make a suggestion it would be for some music to be played at meal times. It was a little uncomfortable sitting so close to another table and very conscious that we could hear their conversation and vice versa!! It was so quiet!!

Dear Henrik. Just a little note to say thank you for your recommendation. We had a lovely time and the accommodation was just what we were looking for. It was fantastic thank you.

Overview

Son Siurana is a refurbished ancient agricultural and cattle farm. The building has been transformed into independent houses from old agricultural premises which once were used for the production of almonds, fig and carob trees, as well as for sheep breeding. These activities are still carried out on the farm and its location on the slope of a hill is a very special place which dominates the landscape.

Son Siurana’s is decorated with Majorcan style using antique bead-heads, fabrics with Majorcan motifs, hand-painted ceramics, rosettes, lime-washed walls, domed ceilings, beams and “resplandit” windows, among many other features. All the furniture is antique and has been recently restored in order to give each of the houses the warmth and charm of olden times.

Discover the taste of Son Siurana through traditional dishes which are elaborated using local and natural products from the homegrown produce and local markets. The Mediterranean tradition and culture unite the kitchen to offer personalized menus according to the necessities of the guests (products without gluten, soya milk). The healthy gastronomy uses fresh fish, meats and other ecological products cultivated in the orchard. Book in advance in order to enjoy tasting whilst contemplating the evening light from the terrace of the hotel. Ask in advance to taste the "embutidos", ecological sheeps cheese and homemade products like bread, yogurts, and marmalades. A pleasure for your senses.

The ideal location of the hotel means that you will enjoy a traditional setting in the countryside, still just a short drive from some of the best beaches and most beautiful villages on the island.
