Scuba diving at Madonna Cave, Mallorca

Posted: Monday, 27th August 2012

The Madonna Cave is located under a peninsula called between Port d’Andratx and Santa Ponça. The cave has a wide entrance of 20 metres, so it is easily accessible. However, it is also very deep, so you will need plenty of air to fully explore the cave via a scuba dive adventure.

The cave gets it name due to a Madonna statue that has been placed about 18 metres inside at the bottom of the cave. As the cave narrows, it can get quite dark, so it is advisable to take a small torch to get the best views. Plus, there are several different sea animals who have made their home inside, including a conger eel – which you will have to keep an eye out for!

The best time to explore the cave with scuba diving is in Spring and a fairly high degree of skill level is needed due to the muddy soil and tight spaces. There are many scuba diving mallorca companies offering guided scuba dives to the Madonna Cave and many other locations across the island.

There are many boutique hotels mallorca on the island of Mallorca. Here are our suggestions for the most beautiful rural hotels mallorca has to offer:
